Panos Eastern Africa is a regional, information and communication for development non-governmental organisation working in the East and Great Horn of Africa. We work in the following areas:

Panos Eastern Africa seeks to address the information needs of the poor and marginalised, create media visibility of their concerns and inform policy through:
- Building the capacities of the media and civil society to communicate more meaningfully issues of development and engagement with information and bolstering engagement with the affected communities.
- Using strategic communication for civil society, ensuring that they use an evidence base in debating critical issues.
- Researching, documenting and communicating.
- Illuminating the voices and issues that are usually left out by the media and thus do not get into the limelight. Marginalised issues and people.
- Supporting and promoting initiatives aimed at ensuring a conducive free and fair environment that allows for free debate, plurality of opinions and ideas, accountability, and good governance and responsible journalism.
- Promoting awareness about the implications of global decisions on marginalised people and creating space for them to engage those processes that have local and global dimensions.

Bishop predicts tougher times a head

Ugandans should brace themselves for harder times ahead as good governance continues to elude the country.
According to Bishop Zac Niringiye, Uganda is far from being democratic. Although the NRM government was able to make strides in restoring peace and economic stability, when it took over power in 1986, patronage, corruption and apathy on the side of Ugandans have significantly undermined the strides.
